JAC seeks resignation of CM
ITANAGAR, Oct 14: The Joint Action Committee Arunachal Pradesh today wrote to Governor and placed a four point memorandum including demand of resignation of Chief Minister Nabam Tuki on moral ground claiming that he has set wrong trend by putting pressure on MLAs Wanglam Sawin and Gabriel D Wangsu to sign signature letter forcefully.
“The manner in which Chief Minister is dealing with current imbroglio is highly questionable. He is trying to cling on to Chief Minister’s post and may misuse state exchequer in this regard,” the JAC stated.
Committee has also called for action against Speaker of the Legislative Assembly for violating laid down constitutional provision. Further, they have demanded immediate resignation of Nabam Rebia from the post of Speaker Legislative Assembly. The other two demands include withholding of the recommendation for dropping of the cabinet ministers and ordering of judicial Inquiry on dismissal of MLAs. The committee claimed that move to drop four ministers without giving any credible justification is wrong.

ITANAGAR, Oct 14: The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh JP Rajkhowa and Chief Minister Nabam Tuki have extended heartiest greetings and good wishes to the people of the State on the auspicious occasion of Chindang Festival of Sajalong (Miji) tribe.

Young Tawang boy in Himachal Pradesh
TAWANG, Oct 14: Tawang MLA and Arunachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board Chairman Tsering Tashi assisted by his team and Delhi Assistant Resident Commissioner Jigmey Chhoten have helped release a child from an orphanage in Himachal Pradesh.
The officials of Himachal Pradesh dropped the boy namely Tashi Tsering, son of Pema Yangchin of New Lebrang village of Tawang at the national capital today, wherein he was received by the MLA, ARC and officials.

Awareness camp on livestock farming and insurance scheme

DC caution drugs peddlers, addicts
ITANAGAR, Oct 14: Dibang Valley Deputy Commissioner cautioned the drugs peddlers and addicts either to stop or face serious legal actions.
Addressing the public in awareness campaign on drugs abuse, alcoholism, girl child education, power and function of school management committees (SMCs) at Italin organized by District SSA Mission, the Deputy Commissioner asked those involved in supplying of drugs to refrain from the illegal acts before the administration swung into action against illegal opium and drugs peddling and cultivation. The administration will give a chance to the drugs suppliers and addicts to correct themselves, the DC said while further cautioning them that sudden house to house raids will be conducted in case of any suspicions.
Tamune Miso appealed to all to extend their full cooperation to the authorities including all the stakeholders, like SMCs, PRIs, parents and teachers in making the district drugs free.
State coordinator SC/ST, Neelom Siram also participated in the programme.

The Bogibeel Bridge near Dibrugarh with a total length of 4940 metre is the longest rail cum Road Bridge in India. The project with a total cost of around Rs. 5000 crores incorporates, apart from the main bridge, Guide bunds on the north and south banks, dykes , road network of 30 Km, rail network of 74 kms and 6 new stations including New Dibrugarh. The project is targeted for commissioning by June 2017.

No to Hydro Electric Project
Dear Editor,
This is regarding Phanchung Hydro Electric Project over Pachi River which is being executed by CESC Project Limited, a Kolkata based power developer. The Pachi River is widely used for fishing purpose by various villages but recent Land Survey notification to execute a project over Pachi River has shocked many.
Under the banner of ‘Immediate Downstream Affected Peoples’ Forum, we have submitted various numbers of memorandums to the GoAP for scrapping of said project as well as during the last public hearing held at Pachi camp where officials of GoAP and CESC Company attended. It seems Govt is not bothered to listen to the future consequences of the affected area.
On the other hand, officials of company has manipulated the minds of our local people by offering job opportunities,land compensation, contract works ignoring the real issue which are going to prevail in the future and affect the natural resources and people as a whole.
The inhabitants of Pachi Camp are going to be the main victims in days to come and have to sacrifice our lives and all resources if the project is executed.
Our people need to broaden their minds as there are so many examples prevailing regarding the construction of dams and countless MoU signed between Power developers and Govt of Arunachal Pradesh.
We strongly oppose the project as there is another hydro project called Tallong Londa Hydro Project which is metres ahead of Pachi Camp and submitted a memorandum against the recent Land Acquisition Survey which was conducted at various affected areas of Kapu Dada, Lochung, Tabri, Lozi, Fachang, Singhi and Pachi Camp of East Kameng Dist.
We cannot face dual projects and dual dams.
We welcome development but not at the cost of life of our local people.
We appeal the intellectual and elite people of East Kameng District to extend support for scrapping the project. Let’s say no to Phanchung Hydro Electric Project, Save River and Save Forest.

A worthy bandh
Dear Editor,
Through your reputed esteemed daily, I would like to appreciate the bandh call executed by All Tagin Youth Organization (ATYO) recently on expiry of the ultimatum given to the district authority. Since Upper Subansiri district does not have strong opposition organizations to raise against concern authority and elected leaders about need of the development progressive of the district, the role of ATYO is really appreciable.
Our concern authority never pay attention to public grievances even though we are going through many problems like bad road condition, shortage of ATM and SBI Branch at places like Nacho, Dumporijo and improper functioning of BSNL network in Daporijo township etc.
We do not have air conditions in our tokopatta huts to remain cool in summer and luxurious SUV to travel on pothole and bog roads.
To give a better look to Daporijo,it hardly needs a year. I think Upper Subansiri is the worst district of Arunachal pradesh in terms of development.
Last but not the least I would like to add that it’s very easy to say but hard to accomplish”.
Hope our beloved leaders and concerned authorities will come out from SUVs and will wake up from deep slumber.

Give salaries on time
Dear Editor,
It has been more than three months, the teachers of SSA are not getting their salary. Why the concern department is delaying the disbursement of teacher’s salary?
Since the beginning, there has always been delay in release of salary to SSA teachers. We always have to wait for our hard earned salary every month whereas staffs of all other departments of the state are getting their salary on time.
Every month, we have to request the concern department for release of salary. But the deprtment is yet to take any concrete action regarding regualr disbrusement of SSA teachers salary till date.
Hence, I request the concern aturhotity to release our three months salary at the earliest possible time.

Protest rallies across Arunachal against SC verdict on Chakma and Hajong refugees
ITANAGAR, Oct 14: Responding to the call of All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU), various students’ unions, and other NGOs today organized protest rallies in various parts of the state against the Supreme Court Judgment granting citizenship rights to Chakma and Hajong refugees in Arunachal.

It is reported that over 6000 protesters hit the street at Tezu.
Later, they submitted a memorandum to Lohit Deputy Commissioner Tamiyo Tatak for onward submission to the higher authorities of the Government.
The DC urged everyone to refrain from any kind of violence which may create law and order problem in the district, reported DIPRO.
Protest rally was also held at Wakro circle, where a sizeable number of Chakma and Hajong resides.The rally was organized by Cultural and Literary Society of Mishmi (CALSOM), Wakro block and I Care (NGO). Later, a Memorandum was submitted to EAC, Wakro. The rally was led by All Lohit District Students Union (ALDSU) in overall.
Papum Pare District Students’ Union (APPDSU) submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh seeking his cooperation and necessary intervention for amicable solution to the Chakma and Hajong refugee issue.
The union said that Chakmas and Hajongs refugees were given shelter in the State
during 1964-
“The land and people of the state of Arunachal Pradesh are being safeguarded under various provisions of Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation (BEFR) of 1873. Under this Regulation, non Arunachalees are barred from property rights and settling down in the state, the union said.
By giving a verdict in favour of the refugees, the SC has simply overlooked the sentiment and rights of the indigenous peoples of the state, who are safeguarded by the BEFR and various other Acts and regulations, the APPDSU added.
Earlier, the union organized a protest rally against the SC verdict and termed the judgment as unacceptable and derogatory.
A similar protest rally was organized by All East Kameng Students Union (AEKSU) today against the Supreme Court judgment.
Over 1200 protesters, including representatives from various NGOs, students and general public joined the rally initiated by All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union.
Later, AEKSU submitted a representation to the Deputy Commissioner.
Upper Subansiri District Students’ Union and All Tagin Students Union also jointly organized a peaceful rally in protest against the verdict of the SC at Daporijo.
Students from Hr. Secondary School and some private schools including members of students union took part in the rally shouting slogans, holding placards and banners against the verdict.
The procession started from Bazar Middle School Daporijo and culminated at the DC’s office premises where they submitted a memorandum to DC Komkar Dulom for onward submission to the Govt.
At Koloriang, All Kurung Kumey District Students' Union along with Koloriang, Damin, Parsi Parlo and Sarli Students' Union (KDPPSSU) and Nyopin, Nyobia, Sangram and Phassang Students' union (NNSPSU) organized the protest rally. A large number of students from various schools participated in rally to protest against the Supreme Courts' verdict granting citizenship rights to Chakma and Hajong refugees.
A memorandum opposing the SC verdict was submitted to the Kurung Kumey Deputy Commissioner, wherein some local issues relating to Chakmas and Hajongs refugee were also included.
Raj Bhavan silent on CM’s proposal
ITANAGAR, Oct 14: The political turmoil in the state has further deepened with role of Raj Bhawan coming into prominence, following the delay by the Governor in acting on the Chief Minister’s recommendation on dropping four ministers from Nabam Tuki’s council of ministers.
On Oct 6, Chief Minister Nabam Tuki had recommended name of four ministers to be dropped from his cabinet, following rebellion against him.
The Governor JP Rajkhowa’s reluctance to act on the recommendation of the Chief Minister to drop the four cabinet ministers, prompted Nabam Tuki to call on him today. The details of the meeting are not known but political analysts say that it is unlikely that Governor will further delay in accepting the CM’s recommendation.
When contacted, Dr Nani Bath, a prominent political analyst of the state and Professor of Political Science, Rajiv Gandhi University, informed that constitutionally, Governor cannot refuse the recommendation of Chief Minister.
“It is the prerogative of Chief Minister to drop or appoint any minister. The Governor cannot stop it. Some of the Governors do take some time to study such recommendations but ultimately, they will have to accept the advice of Chief Minister,” said Dr Bath.
On the other hand, the delay has prompted some to question the role of Raj Bhavan.
“This is the first time in the history of Arunachal; such kind of instance is being witnessed. It is a complete violation of the provision of Article 164 of Indian Constitution under which Governor on the advice of the Chief Minister appoints ministers,” said a political insider.
Along with the Raj Bhavan, the ruling Congress Party as well as BJP has maintained complete silence at the recent political development.
City Police intensify checks, weapons seized
Itanagar, Oct 14: City Police has said that overall law and order situation in the Capital Complex is peaceful but it has intensified patrolling and additional security forces have already been deployed.
The security force along with Magistrates are performing regular patrolling and Naka checking, especially at night hours to instill sense of security in the minds of common citizen, said Capital Police Chief Devender Arya. He appealed to the general public not to pay heed to rumour of possible law and order problem. A huge number of weapons like dao, knife, and firearms have been seized by the Capital Administration so far which are being handed over to the respective police stations.
An order was issued by the District Magistrate Itanagar Capital Complex on 9th October banning carrying of weapons by any person/ persons with them or in their vehicle for a period of fifteen days or until further order.

ABK ratifies modified Roman script for Adi language
ITANAGR, Oct 14: Adi Baane Kébang (ABK) has ratified the modified Roman script for Adi language in its general body meeting held here yesterday and called upon all writers in Adi to use the modified script for popularizing it among the people.
ABK President Kangir Jamoh while announcing the decision said that the Modified Roman Script for Adi which was jointly adopted by Adi Agom Kébang and Mishing Agom Kébang on November 17, 2013 at Gogamukh. He urged all sections of Adi society to extend support to the modified script and use it henceforth in their writings.
The Modified Roman Script for Adi consists of all the existing 26 letters of Roman script besides adoption of one diacritical mark to represent mid central vowels and high central vowels and colon (:) to represent long vowels which exist in Adi language. The basic criteria of adopting the modified script are based on the principle of International Phonetic Association (IPA) which researches different world languages and offers advisory on scientific development of languages. THEMBANG, Oct 14: In yet another step towards achieving the coveted World Heritage Site (WHS) tag for Thembang Fortified Village, a Public Awareness and Sensitization Campaign was organized here yesterday.
Secretary Research and Cultural Affairs Dani Sulu said that the process for getting the coveted tag was a long and tedious one which required joint and concerted effort from all sections of people of Mon region.
Emphasizing methodical preparation of various crucial technical areas including that of the Dossier, Master Plan and demarcation of the core and buffer zones, Sulu requested the District Administration and the WHS Local Consultative Committee (LCC) to prepare these ground works on an early date to seek necessary steps for carrying out physical renovation works of the designated site. PASIGHAT, Oct 14: “Priority Ration Cards will replace the below poverty line (BPL) ration cards when new ration cards under National Food Security Act (NFSA) 2013 are rolled out in the state (subject to government approval) from December one next and all families with income less than Rs one lakh per annum will get benefits under the scheme.
The eldest woman above age 18 years in the family will be the owner of the ration card and the families will get rice @ Rs. 3 per kg, per month, informed DF&CSO Bijoy Pertin while holding a consultative meeting in his office chamber with the councillors of Pasighat Municipal Council.
Adhar card and bank account number will be necessary for Priority Ration cards, Pertin said and appealed to the eligible beneficiaries to submit it to the civil supply office or to their respective ward councillors.

in the colony roads of Khonsa Township, the headquarters of Tirap district. The scheme
is being efficiently implemented by the state PWD, Khonsa which was sanctioned under

The total length of road under this scheme is about 8 km and will cover all the colony
roads in the Khonsa Township. The work on this scheme was supposed to start last
April but due to the incessant rains up to August the work could not kick-
The pace of work has increased dramatically and the quality of work is not compromised thanks to constant monitoring by the district administration and the concerned department.
The sounds of men and machines reverberate through the nearby hills and mountains at the sleepy little Khonsa Township from the wee hours of the morning till late in the evening. This is indicative of the fact that the department is taking the work with a greater degree of seriousness which augurs well for the department and the residents.

When contacted the Executive Engineer of PWD SK Badiyala told this reporter that the work is slated for completion in the coming March provided there was no rains. He said that construction of CC roads and Pavements required dry months as rains damage the CC roads when they are newly laid. Badiya further said that running of vehicles on the freshly laid CC roads was the biggest problem the department was facing. This is due to the lack of alternative roads, he concluded. The residents of Khonsa have seen enough of deplorable Township roads.
